What it means
The invoiced quantity (BT-129) of each normal invoice line (BG-25) must come with a unit of measure code (BT-130). The check looks for the unit code on the billed quantity and only tests that it is present. A line is normal when its subtype (BT-X-8) is DETAIL or not given. The codes come from the UN/ECE Recommendation 20 list.
Why it matters
Without a unit the quantity is ambiguous, because 10 could be pieces, hours or kilograms. The recipient cannot check the line and the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Open the line and set the unit next to the quantity, such as piece, hour, day, kilogram or litre. The software should write the matching code, for example C62 for a piece, HUR for an hour, DAY for a day and KGM for a kilogram. If nothing fits, C62 (one) is the usual neutral choice.
The rule as published
An Invoice line (BG-25) shall have an Invoiced quantity unit of measure code (BT-130) if the "Subtype of invoice line item" (BT-X-8) has the value "Normal line item (standard case)" (DETAIL) or is not specified. Business terms: BG-25, BT-130
