BR-DEC-18: Amount due for payment: at most two decimals

In short

BR-DEC-18 means the amount due for payment has more than two decimals. Fix it by rounding the figures it is built from to two decimals and recalculating the amount due.

On this page

What it means

The amount due for payment (BT-115) has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 1416.145 fails and so does 1416.140.

Why it matters

This is the sum the buyer is asked to pay, and payments and reminders are based on it. An amount that cannot be paid exactly in cents makes the file fail validation, and it is rejected.

How to fix it

Calculate the amount due as the total with VAT (BT-112), minus the paid amount (BT-113), plus the rounding amount (BT-114), with each figure already rounded to two decimals. Do not round only the final figure, because it must still match the figures it is made from. If the amount due keeps showing extra decimals, one of those figures is unrounded in the exported file.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Amount due for payment (BT-115) is 2.
