BR-DEC-17: Rounding amount: at most two decimals

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

BR-DEC-17 means the rounding amount has more than two decimals. Fix it by entering the rounding amount with two decimals at most, for example 0.02 instead of 0.024.

On this page

What it means

The rounding amount (BT-114), a small adjustment added to the amount due so that it ends on a convenient figure, has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 0.024 fails and so does 0.020.

Why it matters

The rounding amount goes straight into the amount due. With extra decimals the amount due cannot end on a whole cent, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

Check the rounding amount in your invoicing software. It is normally a few cents, for instance when the amount due is rounded to the nearest 5 cents. Enter it with two decimals at most and check that the amount due (BT-115) equals the total with VAT, minus the paid amount, plus the rounding amount. If you do not round the amount due, leave this field out.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Rounding amount (BT-114) is 2.
