BR-DEC-19: Taxable amount per VAT category: at most two decimals

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

BR-DEC-19 means the taxable amount of a VAT category in the VAT breakdown has more than two decimals. Fix it by rounding that amount to two decimals, keeping it equal to the net amounts taxed at that rate.

What it means

In the VAT breakdown, the taxable amount of one VAT category (BT-116), the net amount charged at one VAT rate or exemption, has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 940.125 fails and so does 940.100.

Why it matters

The VAT breakdown has one entry per VAT rate and is what the recipient's VAT return is built from. A taxable amount with extra decimals cannot be booked as stated, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

In the VAT breakdown, find each VAT rate or category entry and round its taxable amount to two decimals. It is the sum of the line amounts at that rate, minus discounts and plus charges on the whole invoice that belong to that rate. If each line has two decimals, their sum does too, so extra decimals mean your software is adding unrounded figures.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the VAT category taxable amount (BT-116) is 2.
