BR-DE-24-A: Card payments need the payment card details

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

BR-DE-24-A means the payment is marked as a card payment (code 48, 54 or 55) but the card details are missing. Fix it by adding the card information, or by changing the payment code if no card is used.

On this page

What it means

The payment means type code (BT-81) is 48, 54 or 55, which stand for bank card, credit card and debit card, but the payment details have no payment card information (BG-18). That block holds the card number (BT-87) and, optionally, the card holder name (BT-88).

Why it matters

The code says the buyer pays by card, but nothing says which card. The recipient cannot match the payment to the invoice, so it is rejected.

How to fix it

In the payment details, add the card information: only the last four to six digits of the card number, never the whole number, and the card holder name if you have it. If the invoice is not paid by card, change the payment means code to the right one, for example 30 or 58 for a bank transfer, and give the IBAN instead.

The rule as published

Wenn BT-81 "Payment means type code" einen Schlüssel für Kartenzahlungen enthält (48, 54, 55), muss genau BG-18 "PAYMENT CARD INFORMATION" übermittelt werden.

Business terms: BG-18, BT-81
