BR-50: A credit transfer needs an account number

In short

BR-50 means the payment account identifier (BT-84) is missing although the invoice contains credit transfer details (BG-17). Enter your IBAN in the bank details of your invoicing software and export again.

On this page

What it means

Every invoice must contain the payment account identifier (BT-84) when it contains credit transfer details (BG-17). For a credit transfer this is the account the buyer pays into, normally your IBAN.

Why it matters

The buyer's software reads the payment details to prepare the payment. When they are incomplete it cannot pay automatically, and the invoice is rejected or left waiting for someone to fix by hand.

How to fix it

Enter your IBAN in the bank details of your invoicing software and export again. If you do not want to be paid by transfer, choose another payment means and remove the credit transfer section.

The rule as published

A Payment account identifier (BT-84) shall be present if Credit transfer (BG-17) information is provided in the Invoice.

Business terms: BG-17, BT-84
