CII-SR-470: A bank transfer needs an IBAN or account number

In short

CII-SR-470 means a payment means is marked as a bank transfer (code 30 or 58) but gives no IBAN or other account number. Fix it by adding the account the buyer should pay into, or by changing the payment code if it is not a bank transfer.

On this page

What it means

When a payment means has type code 30 or 58 (bank transfer or SEPA bank transfer), the account to pay into must be given, either as an IBAN or as another account number (the payment account identifier, BT-84). The check fails when neither is present. It only checks that one of them is there, not its format.

Why it matters

A bank transfer cannot be made without an account to pay into. The buyer or their software would have to look for it elsewhere, so the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Check the bank details in your invoicing software, usually under company or payment settings, and make sure the IBAN is filled in and linked to this invoice. For an account without an IBAN, use the account number field. If you do not want to be paid by bank transfer, set the payment type to the way you do want to be paid.

The rule as published

Either the IBAN or a Proprietary ID (BT-84) shall be used.

Business terms: BT-84
