BR-12: Sum of line net amounts is required

In short

BR-12 means the sum of the invoice line net amounts (BT-106) is missing. Let your invoicing software calculate the invoice totals and export again; this total is normally filled in automatically.

On this page

What it means

Every invoice must contain the sum of the invoice line net amounts (BT-106). It is the total of all line amounts before VAT and before discounts or charges on the whole invoice.

Why it matters

EN 16931, the European e-invoicing standard, makes this field mandatory. Without it the recipient's system rejects the invoice before anyone reads it, and public bodies and Peppol access points refuse it outright.

How to fix it

Let your invoicing software calculate the invoice totals and export again; this total is normally filled in automatically. If you build the XML yourself, add cbc:LineExtensionAmount in cac:LegalMonetaryTotal (UBL) or ram:LineTotalAmount (CII).

The rule as published
