What it means
The sum of line net amounts (BT-106) in the invoice totals must equal the sum of the line net amounts (BT-131) of the normal lines, with a rounding difference of up to 0.01 allowed for each line. Normal lines are those with subtype (BT-X-8) DETAIL or none.
Why it matters
The sum of the lines is the starting point for the invoice total without VAT, the VAT and the amount due. If it does not match the lines, every figure below it is in doubt and the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Add up the line amounts excluding VAT and compare the result with the line total in the totals section. A difference usually comes from a line changed without the totals being recalculated, a line missing from the file, or a heading or note line whose amount was counted in the total. Recalculate the totals in your invoicing software, or correct the figure at the source.
The rule as published
Absolute Value of (Sum of Invoice line net amount (BT-106) - Σ Invoice line net amounts (BT-131))<= 0,01 * Number of line net amounts (BT-131). Business terms: BT-106, BT-131
