Frequently asked questions

What is PINT?

The Peppol International Invoice, a shared data model for invoices and credit notes in UBL 2.1. Countries outside the European VAT model specialise it with their own tax terms, identifiers and rules.

How is PINT different from Peppol BIS Billing 3.0?

Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 implements EN 16931 for Europe. PINT is a wider model with its own business terms, numbered IBT instead of BT, and is not tied to European VAT. The two are not interchangeable; a receiver must support the specification the invoice declares.

How do I recognise a PINT invoice?

By the specification identifier in cbc:CustomizationID. It starts with urn:peppol:pint:billing-1, followed by the specialisation, for example @aunz-1, @sg-1 or @jp-1.

Which countries use PINT?

OpenPeppol publishes specialisations for Australia and New Zealand, Singapore and Japan, among others, each maintained with the local Peppol authority.
