Understanding Facturae

Facturae is Spain's XML invoice format, signed with XAdES and sent to public bodies through FACe. See what version 3.2.2 holds and Klarbon's support.

On this page

Facturae is the XML format of the Spanish electronic invoice, published by the Spanish government on facturae.gob.es. The current version is 3.2.2. Since 15 January 2015, suppliers covered by Spain's public-sector e-invoicing rules must send electronic invoices, subject to exceptions; they are signed with a recognised certificate, as an XAdES signature inside the file, and sent to the administration's entry point, such as FACe. Klarbon opens Facturae 3.2.2 in beta.

What is in a Facturae file?

Property Value
Syntax national XML with an XAdES signature
Publisher Spanish government, facturae.gob.es
Current version 3.2.2; schemas for 3.2 and 3.2.1 also published
Main parts FileHeader, Parties (seller and buyer), Invoices
Signature XAdES, required for invoices to public administrations
Delivery to public bodies a general entry point such as FACe

Version 3.2.2 added fields to 3.2.1, among them InvoiceDescription, factoring assignment documents, ReceiverTransactionReference and payment in kind (facturae.gob.es, in Spanish). Sending an invoice to an entry point also registers it in the administration's accounting register (facturae.gob.es, in Spanish).

How does Facturae relate to EN 16931?

Facturae is a national structure, not a UBL or CII profile of EN 16931. Spain's mapping of the European standard is described under the Spanish EN 16931 CIUS. For the signature itself, see XAdES signed XML.

What does Klarbon do with Facturae?

Task Status
Open a Facturae 3.2.2 invoice beta, in open an e-invoice
Use it as the source for a conversion beta
Write Facturae 3.2.2 from another e-invoice beta: unsigned, and validated against the official 3.2.2 schema before you can download it
Verify the signature, check business rules not yet

Klarbon prepares unsigned XML, not an invoice of record issued through a Spanish platform. It never signs invoices or sends them to AEAT or FACe. For public-sector submission, use your invoicing software or the official service to sign and submit the file and check the recipient's requirements. This is general information, not tax advice.
