Understanding Elektronisk handelsformat (EHF)

EHF is Norway's family of e-procurement formats. EHF Billing 3.0 is Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 under its Norwegian name. See what that means for support.

On this page

EHF, Elektronisk handelsformat, is Norway's family of formats for electronic procurement, from catalogues and orders to invoices and credit notes, published on anskaffelser.dev. For invoices, EHF Billing 3.0 is Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 under its Norwegian name: Norway put its national rules into Peppol BIS itself and uses it without extensions. It is the implementation of EN 16931 for the Norwegian market.

What is EHF Billing 3.0?

Property Value
Norwegian name EHF Fakturering 3.0
Based on Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, unchanged
Standard EN 16931, under EU Directive 2014/55/EU
Syntax UBL 2.1
Published on anskaffelser.dev
Change requests through the OpenPeppol service desk

The Norwegian documentation calls EHF Billing 3.0 a rebranding of Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, so issues with the specification go to OpenPeppol (anskaffelser, GitHub). The site also lists other current EHF specifications, among them ordering, catalogue, despatch advice, reminder and self-billing (anskaffelser.dev).

EHF 2.0 and older files

Older EHF invoices, from the EHF Post-Award G2 generation, follow EHF Invoice and Credit Note 2.0. They predate EN 16931 and follow their own rules, so a reader for Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 may not handle them.

What does Klarbon do with EHF?

Dedicated support is planned. Klarbon opens, checks and makes Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 invoices, the specification EHF Billing 3.0 is based on. Check results are against the Peppol BIS rules, in beta, and Klarbon does not send invoices through the Peppol network.

Frequently asked questions

Elektronisk handelsformat, the Norwegian family of formats for electronic procurement, covering catalogues, orders, despatch advice, invoices and credit notes. The specifications are published on anskaffelser.dev.

Is EHF the same as Peppol BIS Billing?

For invoices, yes. EHF Billing 3.0, Fakturering in Norwegian, is Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 without extensions or extra rules. Norwegian rules were added to Peppol BIS itself instead of a separate national CIUS.
