UBL-SR-55: An invoice can have only one direct debit mandate

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

UBL-SR-55 means the invoice has more than one direct debit mandate (BG-19). Keep the one that applies and remove the others.

On this page

What it means

The direct debit block (BG-19) holds the mandate reference (BT-89), the creditor identifier (BT-90) and the account to be debited (BT-91). The check counts the mandates (cac:PaymentMandate) in the payment means of the whole invoice and allows at most one.

Why it matters

EN 16931 allows one direct debit mandate per invoice. With two, the recipient cannot tell under which mandate the amount is to be collected, so the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, check that only one direct debit mandate is attached to the invoice, the one that applies to this buyer. If you build the XML yourself, keep one cac:PaymentMandate in cac:PaymentMeans.

The rule as published
