CII-SR-496: An invoice can name only one direct debit account

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

CII-SR-496 means the invoice names more than one bank account to be debited (the direct debit details, BG-19), and only one is allowed. Fix it by keeping the single account the direct debit applies to and deleting the others.

On this page

What it means

The invoice may hold one set of direct debit details (BG-19), used when the buyer pays by direct debit. The rule counts the accounts to be debited (PayerPartyDebtorFinancialAccount) across all the payment means in the file and finds more than one.

Why it matters

A direct debit takes the money from one account named on the invoice. With two or more accounts, the buyer's software cannot tell which one will be debited, so the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Check the payment section of the invoice in your invoicing software, where the buyer's IBAN for the direct debit is entered. Keep the one account the debit will be taken from and remove the others. If you edit the XML, PayerPartyDebtorFinancialAccount may appear only once in the whole file.

The rule as published

An Invoice shall contain maximum one Payment Mandate (BG-19).
