Warning

UBL-CR-277: The payee should not include a registration expiry date

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-277 means the payee has a registration expiry date (cbc:RegistrationExpirationDate), which EN 16931 does not use. Remove the date from the payee block. It is only a warning, so the invoice is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

Checks that the legal entity of the payee (cac:PayeeParty/cac:PartyLegalEntity) does not contain cbc:RegistrationExpirationDate, the date a company registration runs out. From this block, EN 16931 only reads the payee's company registration number (BT-61, in cbc:CompanyID).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The standard has no business term for when a payee's registration expires, so the recipient's software has no field for it and normally ignores it. It is worth removing when you want a clean report. It is not a check on whether the registration is still valid.

How to fix it

Clear any registration expiry date from the payee details in your invoicing software and export again. If you build the XML yourself, delete cbc:RegistrationExpirationDate from cac:PayeeParty/cac:PartyLegalEntity. The registration number in cbc:CompanyID can stay.
