Warning

UBL-CR-157: Do not include a department in the seller's address

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-157 means the seller's postal address in the UBL file contains a Department element, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning: remove the element and export again.

On this page

What it means

In a UBL invoice or credit note, the seller (BG-4) has a postal address (BG-5) under cac:AccountingSupplierParty/cac:Party/cac:PostalAddress. This rule checks that this address has no cbc:Department, the name of a department at that address.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The EN 16931 address has no field for a department, so the recipient's software normally ignores it. The buyer then does not see which department sent the invoice. Fix it when you want a file without warnings, or when the department matters to the buyer.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, look for a department field in the company address and stop it being exported, then export again. If the buyer needs a contact, use the seller contact details (BG-6) such as the contact point (BT-41), which EN 16931 does support. If you build the XML yourself, delete cbc:Department from cac:PostalAddress in the seller block.
