Warning

CII-SR-263: Leave out the buyer contact's direct telephone element

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-263 means the buyer's contact has a DirectTelephoneUniversalCommunication element, which EN 16931 does not use. Put the number you want the buyer to use in the standard telephone field and remove this element. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted.

What it means

The buyer's contact (BG-9) must not have a DirectTelephoneUniversalCommunication element, a separate entry for a direct dial number. The standard has one telephone number (BT-57), kept in TelephoneUniversalCommunication. The same restriction applies in the CII rules for XRechnung, NLCIUS and the French CTC rules.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The recipient's software reads only the standard telephone entry, so a number that is only in the direct dial element is not seen. Fix it if that is the number the buyer should call.

How to fix it

On the contact person, decide which single number the buyer should use and enter it in the main phone field. Clear the direct dial field, or switch off the export option that writes it separately. If you edit the XML yourself, move the number into the CompleteNumber of TelephoneUniversalCommunication and delete the direct telephone element.
