Warning

CII-SR-265: Leave out the buyer contact's fax element

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-265 means the buyer's contact has a FaxUniversalCommunication element, which EN 16931 does not use. Remove the fax entry from the contact. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted.

What it means

The buyer's contact (BG-9) must not have a FaxUniversalCommunication element, an entry for a fax number. The standard has a telephone number (BT-57) and an email address (BT-58) and no fax number. The same restriction applies in the CII rules for XRechnung, NLCIUS and the French CTC rules.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The recipient's software does not read a fax number, so it is dropped. The buyer cannot use it to reach you or to reach their own contact. Fix it if you want a file with no warnings.

How to fix it

Open the contact person on the customer record and clear the fax field, or switch off the export option that sends it. The phone number and email address are still read, so keep those. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the FaxUniversalCommunication element inside the buyer's DefinedTradeContact.
