Warning

CII-DT-064: Leave the seller refundable tax account out of the VAT details

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-DT-064 means a VAT section of your CII file contains a ledger account for refundable tax on the seller's side (the element SellerRefundableTaxSpecifiedTradeAccountingAccount), which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted, but you can remove the element to get a clean file.

What it means

VAT in a CII file sits in elements whose names end in TradeTax. This rule checks that none of them holds a SellerRefundableTaxSpecifiedTradeAccountingAccount element, a ledger account for refundable tax on the seller's side. EN 16931 has no field for it.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the invoice is not rejected. The account is part of the seller's own bookkeeping and the standard does not carry it in the VAT details, so the recipient's software will normally ignore it. It is worth fixing when a recipient or platform shows warnings.

How to fix it

Check the e-invoice export settings of your invoicing software and choose the standard EN 16931 output rather than a fuller profile. If you build the XML yourself, delete the SellerRefundableTaxSpecifiedTradeAccountingAccount element from every TradeTax block. Your own ledger accounts belong in your accounting software, not on the invoice.

The rule as published

SellerRefundableTaxSpecifiedTradeAccountingAccount should not be present
