What it means

The telephone number of the seller's contact (BT-42) must not be longer than 100 characters. Spaces count, but extra spaces at either end and repeated spaces are ignored. In UBL it is the Telephone element in the seller's contact details.

Why it matters

Romania's rules for RO e-Factura set this limit and a breach is fatal. The check fails and the file is rejected until the number is shortened.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, open your own company details and look at the contact phone number. A value this long is usually several numbers in one field, or a number with notes such as opening hours. Keep the main number only, then create the e-invoice again.

The rule as published

Numarul maxim permis de caractere pentru Numarul de telefon al contactului Vanzatorului (BT-42) este 100. #The allowed maximum number of characters for the Seller contact telephone number (BT-42) is 100.

Business terms: BT-42
