What it means
The parent line ID (BT-X-304) on an invoice line must match the line ID (BT-126) of a line that exists in the same invoice. In the Extended profile the check compares ram:ParentLineID with the ram:LineID of the lines in the file. It fails when no line has that ID, for instance after a typing error, or after the parent line was deleted or renumbered.
Why it matters
Parent and child lines build the group structure of the invoice. A reference to a line that is not there leaves the line without a place in that structure, so the subtotals cannot be followed and the file fails the check.
How to fix it
Compare the parent reference on the line with the IDs of the lines in the invoice. Correct the reference so it matches an existing line ID, or remove the parent reference if the line is not part of a group. If you renumbered the lines or deleted one, update the lines that pointed at it.
The rule as published
Each "ID of parent line" (BT-X-304) must refer to an existing "ID of invoice item" (BT-126). Business terms: BT-126
