What it means
The invoice type code (BT-3) is 384, 471, 472 or 473, the corrective invoice types. For these types there must be exactly one preceding invoice reference (BT-25) that comes with its issue date (BT-26). A reference counts when it has both. The message tells you how many valid references were found. Zero fails, and two or more fail as well.
Why it matters
A corrective invoice corrects one earlier invoice. With no reference, the recipient cannot tell which invoice is being corrected. With several, they cannot tell which one the correction applies to. Either way the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
In the preceding invoice section (BG-3), enter the number and the issue date of the invoice you are correcting. In UBL this is a cac:BillingReference with a cac:InvoiceDocumentReference holding the cbc:ID and the cbc:IssueDate. If there are two or more references, delete all but the right one. If the correction covers several invoices, the rule allows only one reference, so issue a separate correction for each.
The rule as published
Si le type de facture (BT-3) est une facture rectificative (384, 471, 472, 473), alors **une et une seule** référence à une facture antérieure (BT-25) avec sa date (BT-26) doit être présente. Nombre de références valides trouvées : … . Business terms: BT-3, BT-25, BT-26
