BR-CO-13: Net total must equal lines minus discounts plus charges

In short

BR-CO-13 means the invoice total without VAT is not the line amounts minus invoice discounts plus invoice charges. Fix it by recalculating the net total that way and checking that every discount on the invoice is also in the file.

On this page

What it means

The invoice total without VAT (BT-109) is not the sum of the line net amounts (BT-131), minus the invoice discounts (BT-107), plus the invoice charges (BT-108).

Why it matters

This is the base the VAT is worked out on. If it does not add up, the VAT and the amount due are in doubt and the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Recalculate: add the line net amounts, subtract the discounts on the whole invoice, add the charges on the whole invoice. Use that figure as the total without VAT. A common cause is a discount shown on the invoice but missing from the file, or the other way round.

The rule as published

Invoice total amount without VAT (BT-109) = Σ Invoice line net amount (BT-131) - Sum of allowances on document level (BT-107) + Sum of charges on document level (BT-108).

Business terms: BT-107, BT-108, BT-109, BT-131
