What it means
The invoice names a VAT accounting currency (BT-6), and the total VAT amount in that currency (BT-111) has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts. The check only applies when a VAT total in that currency is present. The VAT total in the invoice currency is checked by BR-DEC-13.
Why it matters
When an invoice is in one currency and VAT must be reported in another, this is the VAT figure the tax return is based on. An amount with extra decimals cannot be booked as stated, so the file fails validation and is rejected.
How to fix it
Take the total VAT in the invoice currency, multiply it by the exchange rate you use, and round the result to two decimals. Enter that rounded amount as the VAT total in the accounting currency. This rule limits the decimals of the amount, not of the exchange rate.
The rule as published
The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Invoice total VAT amount in accounting currency (BT-111) is 2. Business terms: BT-111
