BR-62: The seller's electronic address needs a scheme

In short

BR-62 means the scheme identifier of the seller's electronic address (BT-34-1) is missing. Enter your electronic address together with its type in your invoicing software, for example your Peppol id with scheme 0208 or 0106.

What it means

Every invoice must contain the scheme identifier of the seller's electronic address (BT-34-1). The seller's electronic address (BT-34), for example a Peppol id, must say which scheme it belongs to, such as 0088 for a GLN, 9930 for a German VAT number or EM for an email address.

Why it matters

An identifier means nothing without the list it comes from: the same digits can be a VAT number, a company number or a GLN. The scheme tells the recipient's software how to read it, so an identifier without one is rejected.

How to fix it

Enter your electronic address together with its type in your invoicing software, for example your Peppol id with scheme 0208 or 0106. If you build the XML yourself, add the schemeID attribute to cbc:EndpointID (UBL) or ram:URIID (CII).

The rule as published

The Seller electronic address (BT-34) shall have a Scheme identifier.
