Convert a PDF invoice to UBL
Need UBL from a PDF? Enter its invoice details in a form and download validated UBL 2.1 XML for one credit. Automatic PDF reading is not available yet.
In short
Fill in one form and get an e-invoice checked against the selected rules, for the few you send a year. Free preview, then 1 credit (€4.99).
Have a PDF invoice but need UBL 2.1 XML? Keep the PDF beside Klarbon's form and enter its details yourself. Klarbon marks required fields, writes the file and validates it against the selected rules. If your customer needs Peppol BIS or XRechnung, choose that specification instead. Automatic PDF reading is not available yet. The preview is free; a validated download costs one credit.
Which UBL do I need?
"UBL" names the XML syntax (OASIS UBL 2.1). Ask which specification your recipient needs:
| Your customer | Usually means | Tool |
|---|---|---|
| A customer asking for Peppol BIS Billing | Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 | PDF to Peppol BIS |
| A German public body asking for XRechnung in UBL | XRechnung in UBL | PDF to XRechnung |
| Software that imports EN 16931 UBL | plain UBL 2.1 | this page |
If you are not sure, ask your customer which specification or CustomizationID their system expects. More in what is UBL.
How do I convert a PDF to UBL?
- Keep the PDF beside the form. Enter the seller, buyer, lines, amounts and payment details yourself. Klarbon marks required fields.
- Compare every value with the original. Fill any fields your PDF does not contain.
- Validate and download. Klarbon writes UBL 2.1 and checks it against the selected rules. One credit unlocks a validated download.
What must I check before downloading?
Seller and buyer with VAT numbers, invoice number and dates, each line with quantity, unit, price and VAT category, the totals and the payment details. Validation checks consistency, not whether the amounts are the ones you meant.
Can I use a scanned invoice?
Yes, if you can read and enter its details yourself. Automatic reading of scanned or ordinary PDFs is not available yet.
What happens to my PDF?
The PDF stays on your device. The form doesn't upload it; you keep it open beside the form for reference. The details you type are sent to Klarbon to write and validate the file, and they are not kept once the file is returned. See what happens to my files.
What does it cost?
One credit per invoice: EUR 4.99, ten for EUR 29, fifty for EUR 99. The form and the validated preview are free. If no valid file can be produced, no credit is used. See prices.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF invoice to UBL?
Keep the PDF beside you and enter its invoice details in Klarbon's form. Choose the specification your customer needs; Klarbon marks required fields, validates the UBL file and charges one credit for the download. Automatic PDF reading is not available yet.
Which UBL version does Klarbon write?
UBL 2.1, the version the European standard EN 16931 binds to.
My customer asked for UBL. Do they mean Peppol?
UBL is an XML syntax, not a single delivery specification. Ask whether your customer needs Peppol BIS Billing 3.0; if so, choose that target and send it through your access point.
Can I convert a free PDF to UBL without checking it?
Klarbon always shows you the data in a form before writing the file. Checking the values is your responsibility, because a file can be valid and still contain a wrong amount.
