Open a UBL invoice
Open your e-invoice in your browser, read the XML and print or save a readable PDF. Free, with no account and no upload.
In short
See supported XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, Peppol, UBL and CII files as clear invoices, and save them as PDFs. Free, and the file stays on your device. Free.
Klarbon's UBL viewer opens a UBL 2.1 invoice or credit note in your browser and shows it as a readable document, which you can print or save as a PDF. It reads Peppol BIS Billing, XRechnung in UBL, UBL.BE and NLCIUS files too. It is free and unlimited, needs no account, and the file never leaves your device. Opening does not validate the invoice.
What is a UBL invoice?
UBL, the Universal Business Language, is an XML standard from OASIS for business documents (OASIS UBL 2.1). A UBL invoice starts with an Invoice or CreditNote element, and its cbc:CustomizationID says which rules it follows, for example Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 (OpenPeppol). Peppol BIS Billing and XRechnung in UBL syntax are examples of specifications using UBL. More in what is UBL.
How do I open a UBL file?
- Drop or choose the XML file. On a phone, pick it from Files, Mail or your downloads.
- Read the invoice. Seller and buyer with VAT numbers, invoice number and dates, each line, VAT breakdown, totals, payment details, notes and the names of any attached documents, in your language.
- Print or save as PDF from Klarbon or your browser.
Which UBL invoices does it read?
| File | Recognised by | Opens |
|---|---|---|
| Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 | its CustomizationID | yes |
| XRechnung in UBL | its CustomizationID | yes |
| UBL.BE (Belgium) | its CustomizationID | yes |
| NLCIUS (Netherlands) | its CustomizationID | yes |
| Supported UBL 2.1 Invoice or CreditNote | the UBL namespace | yes; opening is not validation |
Why does the file look like code?
A UBL file is data, not a layout. Opened in a browser or text editor, it shows tags such as cac:AccountingSupplierParty and cbc:PayableAmount. That is normal. The viewer turns the data into a page. Some UBL files carry a PDF of the invoice as an attachment; Klarbon lists it by name, but the XML remains the invoice.
What happens to my file?
Nothing leaves your device. The viewer reads the file in your browser. Klarbon does not upload, store or log it. See what happens to my files.
Is the invoice valid if it opens?
Not necessarily. The viewer shows what the file contains, even when rules are broken. To test it against EN 16931 and Peppol or national rules, check the e-invoice.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Opening, printing and saving as PDF are free and unlimited, without an account. See prices for the paid tools.
