FX-SCH-A-000904: The invoicer's VAT or tax number must say what kind it is

In short

Error: fails the selected checks.

FX-SCH-A-000904 means the VAT number or tax number of the invoicer has no scheme attribute (schemeID) that says what kind of number it is. Add it, using VA for a VAT number or FC for a tax number.

On this page

What it means

The number inside the invoicer's tax registration (ram:SpecifiedTaxRegistration/ram:ID) must carry a schemeID attribute. The attribute tells the reader whether the number is a VAT number or a national tax number. This rule only checks that the attribute is present, not what it says.

Why it matters

Without the scheme, the recipient cannot tell a VAT number from a tax number and cannot match it against its records. The Extended profile therefore requires it, and a file without it can be rejected.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, make sure each number is entered as the right kind: VAT number or tax number. If you build the XML yourself, set the schemeID attribute on ram:InvoicerTradeParty/ram:SpecifiedTaxRegistration/ram:ID to VA for a VAT number or FC for a tax number.

The rule as published

Attribute '@schemeID' is required in this context.
