What it means
A note on the invoice can say what it is about using a subject code (BT-21). The code comes from the UNTDID 4451 list, for example AAI for general information, SUR for seller remarks, REG for regulatory information and ABL for legal information. In the XML it is ram:SubjectCode inside ram:IncludedNote in rsm:ExchangedDocument. An empty code passes, but a filled-in code must be on the list. The rule applies to the Extended profile only.
Why it matters
Codes are read by software, not by people. A code that is not on the agreed list cannot be interpreted, so the file fails the check and the recipient's system rejects it.
How to fix it
In your invoicing software, open the note and check the subject or type it was given. Choose one of the options offered, or clear it, as the note text itself does not need a code. If you build the XML yourself, correct ram:SubjectCode in ram:IncludedNote, or remove the element.
