FX-SCH-A-000045: The currency on the total VAT amount must be a valid code

In short

Error: fails the selected checks.

FX-SCH-A-000045 means the currency attribute on the total VAT amount (BT-110) in the Minimum profile is not an allowed currency code. Use the same three-letter ISO 4217 code as the invoice currency, such as EUR.

On this page

What it means

In the Minimum profile of Factur-X and ZUGFeRD, the currencyID attribute of the total VAT amount (ram:TaxTotalAmount) must be a currency code from the ISO 4217 list. The rule looks at the VAT total whose currency equals the invoice currency (BT-5), so in practice it usually fails together with FX-SCH-A-000040, when the invoice currency itself is not a valid code.

Why it matters

A currency code outside the agreed list cannot be interpreted by software. The recipient cannot tell which money the VAT is in, so the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Correct the invoice currency in your invoicing software by choosing it from the list, for example EUR, and export again. If you build the XML yourself, the same valid code must appear in ram:InvoiceCurrencyCode and in the currencyID attribute of ram:TaxTotalAmount.

The rule as published

Value of '@currencyID' is not allowed.

Where this rule applies

Rule set Version
Factur-X 1.09 MINIMUM 1.0.9-2
