What it means
A discount (BG-20) or charge (BG-21) on the whole invoice contains a TypeCode element, a code that classifies the kind of discount or charge. EN 16931 does not use it. The reason code (BT-98 for a discount, BT-105 for a charge) is a different element and is allowed.
Why it matters
This is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted. Software that follows EN 16931 does not read the TypeCode, so the classification is lost. It is worth fixing if you rely on the code to tell the buyer what the discount or charge is for, or if the buyer's system is strict about extra elements.
How to fix it
Remove the TypeCode element from the discount or charge. To say what it is for, give the reason in words (BT-97 for a discount, BT-104 for a charge), the reason code (BT-98 or BT-105), or both. The code lists are UNTDID 5189 for discounts and UNTDID 7161 for charges.
