Warning

CII-SR-346: Leave out the invoice date in the settlement section

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-346 means the settlement section of the e-invoice contains an invoice date and time (InvoiceDateTime), which EN 16931 does not read from there. It is only a warning: remove it and keep the invoice date in the header of the invoice.

On this page

What it means

The settlement section (ApplicableHeaderTradeSettlement) should not contain an InvoiceDateTime. The invoice date (BT-2) belongs in the document header (ExchangedDocument), and that is where receiving software reads it.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. Receiving software takes the invoice date from the header and ignores a second date elsewhere. If the two dates differ, the buyer may be unsure which is correct.

How to fix it

Remove the date from the settlement section and check that the invoice date in the header is correct. In your invoicing software this is the normal invoice date field. If the software writes the extra date by itself, report it to the vendor. Fix it first if the two dates differ.
