Warning

CII-SR-255: Leave out the buyer's legal registration details block

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-255 means the buyer's legal organisation block contains an AuthorizedLegalRegistration element, which EN 16931 does not use. Remove it and keep only the company registration number. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted.

What it means

Inside the buyer's legal organisation block, the AuthorizedLegalRegistration element must be absent. It is an extra block for details of how the organisation is registered. The company registration number (BT-47) goes in the ID element of the same legal organisation block instead. The same restriction applies in the CII rules for XRechnung, NLCIUS and the French CTC rules.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The recipient's software reads the registration number from the ID element and does not look at the extra block, so whatever is in it is ignored. Fix it if you want a file with no warnings.

How to fix it

Open the customer record and check that the company registration number is entered in its normal field. Then switch off any option that exports registration details in a separate block. If you edit the XML yourself, delete AuthorizedLegalRegistration inside the buyer's SpecifiedLegalOrganization and leave the ID in place.
