Warning

CII-SR-230: Seller contact should not have a responsibility

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-230 means the seller's contact details include a Responsibility element, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning: delete the Responsibility from the seller's contact.

On this page

What it means

In a CII file, the seller's contact (BG-6) is the DefinedTradeContact block. This rule warns when it also has a Responsibility element, which describes what the contact person is responsible for. The standard only has fields for the contact name (BT-41), phone number (BT-42) and email address (BT-43).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted. There is no field for it in EN 16931, so the buyer's software will normally ignore it and the information is lost on the way.

How to fix it

Check the contact settings in your invoicing software for a field such as responsibility, department duties or role description, and stop it being exported. In hand-edited XML, delete the Responsibility element inside the seller's DefinedTradeContact. Fix it when you want a clean check result.
