Warning

CII-SR-229: Seller contact should not have a job title

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-229 means the seller's contact details include a JobTitle element, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning: remove the job title from the seller's contact.

On this page

What it means

In a CII file, the seller's contact (BG-6) sits in DefinedTradeContact. This rule warns when that block holds a JobTitle for the contact person. EN 16931 has fields for the contact name (BT-41), phone number (BT-42) and email address (BT-43), but not for a job title.

Why it matters

The invoice is still accepted. The buyer's software has no field for the job title and will normally ignore it, so it does not reach whoever reads the invoice.

How to fix it

Find the job title on the seller's contact in your invoicing software and turn off exporting it, or clear it. If the buyer really needs the title, add it to the contact name field (BT-41) as plain text. It is worth fixing when you want the file to check clean.
