Warning

CII-SR-220: Invoice lines should not carry payment card details

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-220 means a line contains a SpecifiedTradeSettlementFinancialCard element, which EN 16931 does not allow on a line. The invoice is still accepted, and you clear the warning by deleting it from the line.

On this page

What it means

The settlement section of each line (BG-25) must not contain SpecifiedTradeSettlementFinancialCard, a payment card. Card details are given once for the whole invoice, in the payment instructions (BG-18).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted. The standard reads card details only at invoice level, so a card on a line is ignored and the recipient will not use it to match the payment. It is also better not to spread card data through a file at all.

How to fix it

Delete SpecifiedTradeSettlementFinancialCard from the line. If the invoice is paid by card, give the card details once in the payment instructions for the whole invoice. Never put a full card number in an invoice.
