Warning

CII-SR-165: Invoice lines should not name a final delivery recipient

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-165 means an invoice line names an ultimate ship-to party, the final recipient of the goods, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted, and you fix it by removing that party from the line.

What it means

The delivery details of an invoice line (SpecifiedLineTradeDelivery in the XML) should not contain an UltimateShipToTradeParty. That element names the party the goods are finally delivered to, when this is someone other than the party they are first sent to. EN 16931 has no field for a final delivery recipient.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the invoice is not rejected. Software that reads only the EN 16931 fields does not look for this party on a line, so it is usually dropped and the buyer's system may never see it. It is worth fixing if your recipient wants a file without warnings, or if the buyer needs to know where the goods end up.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, look for a final delivery or ship-to address on the individual lines and clear it, or switch the export to the EN 16931 profile instead of an extended one. If the buyer needs a delivery name and address, give it once for the whole invoice, in the delivery information (BG-13). If you build the XML yourself, delete the UltimateShipToTradeParty block from inside the line's SpecifiedLineTradeDelivery.
