Warning

CII-SR-126: Remove the unit basis amount from the unit price discount

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-126 means the discount on a line's unit price has a unit basis amount (UnitBasisAmount), which an EN 16931 invoice should not contain. Delete that element from the discount; it is only a warning, so the file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

On each line, the unit price before discount (BT-148) can carry one discount (BT-147). This rule checks that the discount holds no UnitBasisAmount, an extra amount the discount can be based on. Only the finished discount amount is part of EN 16931.

Why it matters

EN 16931 expects one finished discount amount. How it was worked out is not part of the invoice data, so a receiving system has no field for the base amount and may ignore it. The file is still accepted, because this is a warning. It is worth fixing for a clean file, or when the buyer needs the calculation and would not see it.

How to fix it

Delete UnitBasisAmount from the AppliedTradeAllowanceCharge under GrossPriceProductTradePrice in every line where it appears. Keep the discount amount (ActualAmount), because that is the figure that counts. If the buyer needs to see how the discount was worked out, put a short explanation in a note on the line (BT-127). If your software adds the element itself, ask the supplier for an EN 16931 export.
