What it means
The sum of discounts on the whole invoice (BT-107) must equal the sum of the discount amounts on the whole invoice (BT-92), with a rounding difference of up to 0.01 allowed for each discount. If the invoice has discounts, the total must be given as well. If it has none, the total of discounts should be left out. Discounts on single lines are not part of this rule.
Why it matters
The total of discounts feeds the invoice total without VAT. If it disagrees with the discounts shown, the totals cannot be trusted and the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Add up the discount amounts on the whole invoice and compare the result with the total of discounts in the totals section. A common cause is a discount that appears on the invoice but not in the file, or a total left over after a discount was removed. Correct whichever side is wrong and recalculate the totals.
The rule as published
Absolute Value of (Sum of allowances on document level (BT-107) - Σ Document level allowance amounts (BT-92))<= 0,01 * Number of Document level allowance amounts (BT-92). Business terms: BT-92, BT-107
