What it means
Invoice notes (BG-3) can start with a subject code between hash signs (BT-21). #PMD# marks the mention of the penalties that apply if the invoice is paid late. The rule counts #PMD# across all the notes of the invoice together and allows it at most once.
Why it matters
The platform reads the late payment penalties as one legal mention, identified by its code. Two #PMD# notes give it two competing versions of the same mention, so the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Open the notes or payment terms of the invoice in your software and look for the late payment penalties text. Keep one copy and delete the other. Check whether a template, a default footer or your invoicing platform already adds this mention, since that is often where the second copy comes from.
The rule as published
Le code sujet PMD (pénalités de retard) ne doit apparaître qu'une seule fois dans les notes (BG-3). Business terms: BG-3
