What it means
Invoice notes (BG-3) can start with a subject code between hash signs (BT-21) that says what the note is about. #PMT# marks the mention of the fixed indemnity for recovery costs that applies when a payment is late. The rule counts #PMT# across all the notes of the invoice together and allows it at most once.
Why it matters
French invoicing platforms read these legal mentions by their code. With two #PMT# mentions they cannot tell which one is the real one, so the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Open the notes or legal mentions of the invoice in your software and find the text about the recovery indemnity. Keep one copy and delete the other. A typical cause is the same mention added once by a template or default footer and once typed by hand. The same check applies to credit notes.
The rule as published
Le code sujet PMT (indemnité forfaitaire pour frais de recouvrement) ne doit apparaître qu'une seule fois dans les notes (BG-3). Business terms: BG-3
