What it means
The invoiced object identifier (BT-18), for example a meter number or a subscription number, may say which kind of reference it is. That scheme must be a code from UNTDID 1153, such as AVE for a meter or AFL for a contract item.
Why it matters
Codes are read by software, not by people. A value outside the agreed code list cannot be interpreted, so the recipient's system rejects the invoice even when the value looks sensible to a person.
How to fix it
Choose a valid reference type from UNTDID 1153 for the invoiced object, or leave the scheme out if you are not sure. If you build the XML yourself, it is the schemeID of the cbc:ID of the document reference with type code 130 (UBL), or ram:ReferenceTypeCode (CII).
