What is a CIUS-PT invoice?
CIUS-PT is Portugal's national specification for e-invoices using EN 16931 in public procurement (European Commission). Klarbon reads CIUS-PT 2.1.1 in UBL 2.1, in beta. It recognises the cbc:CustomizationID ending in urn:feap.gov.pt:CIUS-PT:2.1.1.
Opening a file is not issuing an invoice or meeting Portuguese invoicing-software requirements. Confirm the required format, delivery route and current issuing obligations with your public-sector customer and eSPap. More in E-invoicing in Portugal.
How do I open a CIUS-PT file?
- Drop or choose the XML file. On a phone, pick it from Files, Mail or your downloads.
- Read the invoice. Seller and buyer with their tax numbers, invoice number and dates, each line, VAT breakdown, totals and payment details, with labels in your language.
- Print or save as PDF from Klarbon or your browser.
Why does the file look like code?
A CIUS-PT file is data for software, not a layout. Opened in a browser or text editor, it shows UBL tags such as cac:AccountingSupplierParty and cbc:PayableAmount. That is normal. The viewer turns the data into a page. The PDF you save is a readable copy; the XML file remains the invoice to keep.
What does Klarbon not do with CIUS-PT?
- It does not check the file against the CIUS-PT rules. A file that opens may still be rejected.
- It does not prepare or send invoices to eSPap's FE-AP service, a public body or the Autoridade Tributária (AT).
- It does not sign files, issue invoices or assign an ATCUD or QR code. Use your authorised invoicing workflow for issuance.
What happens to my file?

What does it cost?
Nothing. Opening, printing and saving as PDF are free and unlimited, without an account. See prices.
