Warning

UBL-CR-088: Leave the document status out of the tender or lot reference

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-088 means the tender or lot reference contains a document status code, which EN 16931 does not use. Remove it and keep only the reference number. The file is still accepted, so this is a warning.

On this page

What it means

The tender or lot reference (BT-17) lives in cac:OriginatorDocumentReference, where EN 16931 uses only the identifier (cbc:ID). This rule checks that there is no cbc:DocumentStatusCode, a code that would give the status of the referenced document. An empty element still counts as present.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted and can be sent. The status of the tender or lot is not part of an invoice, so the recipient's software cannot map it and normally skips it. Remove it to keep the file in line with the standard.

How to fix it

Open the tender or lot reference in your invoicing software and clear any status field saved with it. Keep the reference number and export the file again. If you build the XML yourself, delete cbc:DocumentStatusCode from cac:OriginatorDocumentReference.

The rule as published

A UBL invoice should not include the OriginatorDocumentReference DocumentStatusCode
