Warning

CII-SR-177: Invoice lines should not refer to a packing list

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-177 means an invoice line contains a packing list reference (PackingListReferencedDocument), even though the message talks about a requested quantity. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted, and you fix it by removing the packing list reference from the line.

On this page

What it means

The delivery details of an invoice line (SpecifiedLineTradeDelivery in the XML) should not contain a PackingListReferencedDocument, a reference to the packing list of the delivery. The message of this rule names RequestedQuantity, but the test only looks for the packing list reference. EN 16931 has no packing list field.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is not rejected. A packing list reference on a line is outside the fields EN 16931 software reads, so it is usually dropped before the buyer's system sees it. It is worth fixing if your recipient wants a file without warnings.

How to fix it

Clear the packing list reference from the lines in your invoicing software, or switch the export to the EN 16931 profile instead of an extended one. If the buyer needs the packing list, attach it to the whole invoice as an attachment (BG-24). If you build the XML yourself, delete the PackingListReferencedDocument block from the line's SpecifiedLineTradeDelivery.
