What it means
The invoice total without VAT (BT-109) must equal the sum of the line net amounts (BT-131) of the normal lines, minus the discounts on the whole invoice (BT-92), plus the charges on the whole invoice (BT-99). A rounding difference of up to 0.01 is allowed for each line, discount and charge counted. This is the Extended profile version of the EN 16931 rule BR-CO-13.
Why it matters
The total without VAT is the base the VAT is worked out on. If it does not add up, the VAT and the amount due are in doubt and the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Add the line net amounts, take off the discounts on the whole invoice, add the charges on the whole invoice, and use the result as the total without VAT. A common cause is a discount or charge that is shown on the invoice but missing from the file, or the other way round. Another is a heading or information line whose amount was counted with the lines.
The rule as published
Absolute Value of (Invoice total amount without VAT (BT-109) - ∑ Invoice line net amounts (BT-131) + Σ Document level allowance amounts (BT-92) - Σ Document level charge amounts (BT-99)) <= 0,01 * (Number of line net amounts (BT-131) + Number of Document level allowance amounts (BT-92) + Number of Document level charge amounts (BT-99)). Business terms: BT-92, BT-99, BT-109, BT-131
