What it means
The sum of charges on the whole invoice (BT-108) must equal the sum of the charge amounts on the whole invoice (BT-99) plus the sum of the logistics service fee amounts (BT-X-272), with a rounding difference of up to 0.01 allowed for each amount counted. If the invoice has no charges, the total of charges should be left out. Charges on single lines are not part of this rule.
Why it matters
The total of charges feeds the invoice total without VAT. If it disagrees with the charges shown, the totals cannot be trusted and the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Add up the charges on the whole invoice, including any logistics service fees, and compare the result with the total of charges in the totals section. A common cause is a charge such as freight that appears on the invoice but not in the file, or a total left over after a charge was removed. Correct whichever side is wrong and recalculate the totals.
The rule as published
Absolute Value of (Sum of charges on document level (BT-108) - Σ Document level charge amounts (BT-99) - Σ Logistics Service fee amounts (BT-x-272))<= 0,01 * (Number of Document level charge amounts (BT-99) + Number of Logistics Service fee amounts (BT-X-272)). Business terms: BT-99, BT-108
