PDF to Factur-X: enter details in a form for a validated PDF/A-3 with CII XML, one credit. Automatic PDF reading is not available yet.
In short
Fill in one form and get an e-invoice checked against the selected rules, for the few you send a year. Free preview, then 1 credit (€4.99).
Have a PDF invoice but need Factur-X? Keep the PDF beside Klarbon's form and enter its details yourself. Klarbon generates a new readable PDF/A-3 page with CII XML inside and validates it before you download. Automatic PDF reading is not available yet. The preview is free; a validated download costs one credit. Klarbon writes the file; your approved platform transmits it.
How do I convert a PDF invoice to Factur-X?
Enter the details from your PDF, check them against the original, choose the profile and pay for the validated file.
- Keep the PDF beside the form. Enter the seller, buyer, lines, amounts and payment details yourself. Klarbon marks required fields.
- Choose the profile. EN 16931 carries a complete invoice. MINIMUM and BASIC WL carry too little detail for an EN 16931 e-invoice.
- Compare and validate. Check every value against the original. Klarbon generates a new PDF/A-3 page, embeds CII XML and checks the result against the selected rules.
- Download. One credit unlocks the validated file. If no valid file can be produced, no credit is used.
What is a Factur-X file, exactly?
Factur-X is a PDF/A-3 document with the invoice embedded as UN/CEFACT CII XML and metadata that declares the profile (FNFE-MPE). Both parts must describe the same invoice. The current release is Factur-X 1.09.2, technically identical to the German ZUGFeRD 2.5.2. More in what is Factur-X.
What must I check before downloading?
Every value that matters legally or financially. Validation checks consistency and the selected rules, not whether the amounts are right.
- Seller and buyer names, addresses, SIREN or SIRET and VAT numbers
- Invoice number, invoice date and delivery date
- Each line: description, quantity, unit price, VAT rate
- Totals: the rules require, for example, that the total with VAT equals the total without VAT plus VAT (BR-CO-15)
- Payment terms and bank details
For example, if your PDF shows EUR 500.00 net plus 20% VAT, enter EUR 500.00 net, EUR 100.00 VAT and EUR 600.00 total in the form. Supply any required buyer details yourself; Klarbon does not read them from the PDF.
Can I use a scanned PDF?
Yes, if you can read and enter its details yourself. Automatic reading of scanned or ordinary PDFs is not available yet.
Is a PDF/A-3 file already a Factur-X?
No. PDF/A-3 is only the archive format that allows attachments. Without the CII XML and its metadata, a PDF/A-3 file is an ordinary PDF invoice. Renaming a file does not change its format either.
Will the converted file contain information that was not on my PDF?
Every value comes from you. Klarbon never invents a SIREN, a VAT number or a payment term. The form marks fields the selected rules require.
How much does it cost?
One credit per converted invoice: EUR 4.99 for one, EUR 29 for ten, EUR 99 for fifty, with no expiry. Filling the form and checking the preview are free, and you can buy a single credit without an account. See prices.
What happens to my PDF?
The PDF stays on your device. The form doesn't upload it; you keep it open beside the form for reference. The details you type are sent to Klarbon to write and validate the file, and they are not kept once the file is returned. See what happens to your files.
Does Klarbon send the invoice to my customer's platform?
No. In France, invoices within the reform's scope are exchanged through an approved platform (plateforme agréée). Businesses in scope receive this way since 1 September 2026; large and intermediate companies issue from that date, and SMEs and micro-entreprises from 1 September 2027 (DGFiP). Klarbon prepares the file; you send it through your platform (list of approved platforms). E-reporting is a separate obligation. See the French e-invoicing guide.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF invoice to Factur-X?
Keep the PDF beside you and enter its invoice details in Klarbon's form. Choose a profile; Klarbon marks required fields, writes and validates the Factur-X file, and charges one credit for the download. Automatic PDF reading is not available yet.
Can I convert a scanned invoice PDF to Factur-X?
Yes, if you can read its details and enter them yourself. Automatic reading of scanned or ordinary PDFs is not available yet.
What information must I review before downloading a converted invoice?
Seller and buyer names, SIREN and VAT numbers, the invoice number and dates, each line with quantity, price and VAT rate, the totals and the payment terms.
Does renaming a PDF or saving it as PDF/A-3 make it a Factur-X invoice?

Can conversion to Factur-X add information missing from the original?
Every value comes from you. The form marks required fields, including those missing from your PDF, for you to complete.
How much does a PDF invoice conversion cost?
One credit per invoice, from EUR 4.99 for a single credit or EUR 2.90 each in a pack of ten. The preview is free and no credit is used if a valid file cannot be produced.
