Warning

CII-SR-317: Leave out the ultimate delivery recipient

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-317 means the file names an ultimate delivery recipient (UltimateShipToTradeParty), a final recipient beyond the party the goods are delivered to, which EN 16931 does not use. It is a warning, so the file is still accepted; remove that block.

What it means

The delivery section can name the party the goods are delivered to (BG-13). This rule checks that it has no UltimateShipToTradeParty, a second party for the final recipient when the goods are passed on from the first. EN 16931 has room for one delivery party only.

Why it matters

The recipient's software reads a single delivery party, so the second one is dropped. The invoice is not rejected, but if the final recipient matters to the buyer, they will not see it in the structured data.

How to fix it

Decide which party is the real place of delivery and give that one as the delivery party. If the final recipient needs to be known, add their name to the invoice note (BT-22). A fuller profile such as Extended is the usual reason this block is written, so choose the EN 16931 profile if you can.
