BR-DEC-01: Discount on the whole invoice: at most two decimals

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

BR-DEC-01 means a discount on the whole invoice has an amount with more than two decimals. Fix it by rounding that discount amount to two decimals, for example 12.35 instead of 12.347.

On this page

What it means

The amount of a discount that applies to the whole invoice rather than to one line (BT-92) has more than two digits after the decimal point. The check counts every digit after the point, so 12.347 fails and so does 12.340.

Why it matters

Invoice amounts are limited to cents. The discount feeds into the invoice totals, and the recipient cannot tell how you meant it to be rounded, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

Open the discount that applies to the whole invoice (software often calls it a document discount or overall allowance) and round its amount to two decimals. Then check that the total of discounts (BT-107) is still the sum of these discounts. If the discount is worked out from a percentage, round the result before it is written to the file, not just on screen.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Document level allowance amount (BT-92) is 2.
